The Allan Labor Government has delivered a modern refresh at Maryborough’s Wattle Rise Aged Care facility – giving residents access to the high-quality facilities they deserve.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett today unveiled the $1.2 million refurbishment that includes an expanded dining room, new reception, new visitor spaces and 20 private ensuites replacing 10 shared bathrooms.

The dining room upgrade has delivered a more spacious area, with the design allowing residents to come together as a community at meal time, while the new visitor space is an important addition to ensure residents can maintain connections with visiting family and friends.

Made possible via a $20 million package to improve Public Sector Residential Aged Care Service (PSRACS) across Victoria, the facility is one of 33 projects to receive funding upgrades to their kitchens or gardens.

Creating a comfortable place for local residents to call home, the refurbishments boost the personal living experience so they can ‘age’ in place – an approach that is particularly important in regional Victoria.

Modern, safer and more dignified facilities in regional towns like Maryborough allow residents to remain close to their support network and maintain connections with loved ones and their community as their care needs increase.

The PSRACs funding package builds on the Labor Government’s investment in the region with works currently underway on the $115 million redevelopment and expansion of Maryborough and District Hospital.
