The Andrews Labor Government is boosting ambulance resources in the Grampians region, making sure paramedics have the facilities and support they need to quickly respond to local emergencies and save lives.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett today visited the newly completed multi-million-dollar upgrade of the Ararat Ambulance Station on Basham Street.

The refurbished Ararat Ambulance Station will have its own new Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) unit, providing additional lifesaving skills to the local community.

The new facility will have its own covered space, new medical and delivery stores and improved training facilities and improved amenities to support our hard-working paramedics.

MICA paramedics have a higher clinical skill set and can perform more advanced medical procedures. They can perform advanced airway management, manage complex head injuries, treat life-threatening chest injuries and provide advanced management of cardiac conditions.

Paramedics are expected to move into their new and improved digs in the coming weeks.

The project was delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership with Ambulance Victoria and builder, Bowden Corporation.

In addition to the bigger, better Ararat Ambulance Station, there are 11 new or refurbished ambulance stations with shovels in the ground or about to get underway across the state – building on the 30 ambulance stations delivered by the Labor Government since 2015.

The Labor Government has invested approximately $249 million since 2015 to upgrade and rebuild ambulance stations to provide better working conditions for paramedics and ensure lifesaving emergency care is available for all Victorians.
