The Inglewood Country Fire Authority (CFA) Brigade has a new heavy tanker, boosting firefighter safety and ensuring crews are well-equipped to protect the local community ahead of the summer period.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett joined brigade members at the Inglewood Alive Festival to officially handover the heavy tanker and thank volunteers for their ongoing dedication and support to the local community. 

The Allan Labor Government has invested $22.73 million to produce 48 heavy tankers and two light tankers as part of the $126 million CFA Capability Funding package.

The new heavy tanker features a multilayered crew protection system, ensuring the vehicle can withstand fire temperatures of more than 600 degrees Celsius, helping to keep firefighters safe.

Other features of the heavy tanker include electronic monitors, electric rewind hose reels, modern cab chassis enhancements and higher levels of emissions controls.

The Inglewood Fire Brigade has a long and proud history. First established in 1864, it has served the community for almost 160 years and is a testament to the dedication of volunteers that has ensured the brigade’s continued operation for well over a century.

Supported by 43 members, the brigade responds to an average of 40 call outs every year and relocated to its current station in 2019.
