The Albanese and Andrews Labor Governments are supporting Victorian communities to restore treasured recreation areas and facilities damaged by the floods in October and November 2022.
Member for Ripon Martha Haylett today announced that under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, the Federal and State Governments have provided more than $11.8 million to 125 voluntary committees of management.
Across the Ripon electorate, a massive 25 separate projects have received funding, totalling more than $1.5 million.
With this funding, local committees are restoring significant community facilities and tourist destinations including halls, caravan parks, camping areas and multi-use recreation reserves. The projects will also help communities improve their infrastructure against future disasters.
The flood recovery projects range from replacement and upgrades of drainage and power, road repairs, and replacement of fencing, to more complex rebuilding projects.
Among the 25 projects in Ripon are the Majorca Town Hall, Newbridge Recreation Reserve, Marnoo Soldiers Memorial Park, Stuart Mill Public Hall, Avoca Country Golf Bowls Club and Waterloo Hall and Recreation Reserve.
Funding will see damaged flooring replaced in Skipton, kitchen facilities replaced in Navarre, the golf course reinstated in Avoca and repairs to the platypus viewing platform in Stewart Park, plus so much more.
